I took this shot a while back during my first trip to the Stone Mill.  I was in UrbEx overload.  It’s funny how spastic you can get when you are thrown into a wonderland of photo ops in every direction.  I distinctly remember trying to keep some sort of focus because I only had limited time to shoot.  On top of that, it was the first time that I had met my good friend, Bob Lussier, so I was also trying to build rapport with him.

And then I saw a comp that just reeled me in.  Everything slowed down and I started taking things in one piece at a time.  Here was this yellow line painted on the ground with this grimy bucket perfectly placed right on it.  It was built to be shot.  So, I got my comp framed and bracketed away.  And I knew that if this was the only good shot of the day, I’d be perfectly happy.

A lot of times, when I am walking down random streets in the city, my eye is drawn to the little details that seem to be pasted on the larger facet of everything else.  In this shot, for instance, I couldn’t help but notice the arrangement of the three doorbells and how they are sort of counting down to something.  In any case, I hope that you enjoy it!

I was going back and forth over whether I should post this image or not.  On one hand, I am not thrilled with the halo that appears around the curve of Storrow Drive but, on the other hand, I really dig the sweeping perspective of the road and how it leads your eye through the frame.  Thoughts?

Suffice it to say that I have a thing for beaten up junkyard vehicles.  This shot was taken at the yard located a few blocks away from my mother-in-law’s place in Wilkes-Barre Twp, PA.

During my last visit to Wilkes-Barre, I decided to drive around the area to ‘see what I see’.  True to form, I got lost almost immediately and stumbled upon a pretty rad recycling center.  Across the street from it was this awesome mechanic shop, closed for the day.  I loved the cubic shape coupled with the chipping paint and growing ivy.

During a recent visit to Philadelphia, I had hopes to tour the Masonic Temple as the architecture of its thematic rooms looked pretty amazing in the brochure. Alas, tripods and self-guidance during tours were both prohibited. The security guard was nice enough to allow me to set up for a few shoots in the main corridor, which you see above.

Ahhh… the turnstiles of Boston’s MBTA system.  I am especially fond of when they close the hip-crushing jaws on me just when I think I am safe to pass.

In order to get some uninterrupted shooting done in the Davis Square T Station, I paid it a visit in the late evening.  It was really nice to have the station pretty much devoid of any passengers.  I was especially happy with how this escalator shot turned out.

When the surface of a bridge doesn’t yield much in the way of interesting shots, climb below it.  That is what my buddy, Chris Lazzery, and I did when we visited Lowell, MA.  This is below the University Ave bridge

You wouldn’t find it if you didn’t know where to look but this is the side facade of Lucky’s Lounge in South Boston.  Fantastic atmosphere, food, and beer selection.  Their Sinatra Brunch is pretty awesome, too.
