I already have a Canon wired remote for my 40D. Would it still be wise to purchase the extra shutter release cord for the Promote, or a waste of money?

Brian,

I have a questions about the Promote. What happens if you want to use in camera noise reduction for longer exposures? Does the device understand that you have it set in the camera and will it work correctly?

Thanks
Sandy

[...] Another alternative is to use the Promote Control by Promote Systems. With this device, you are letting the remote unit issue the shutter speed of each bracket to the camera. This is the solution that I use, love, and recently reviewed. [...]

Thanks, Brian! I'm glad that the review was helpful for you. The Promote is seriously one of my most used devices.

Brian, I have to say thanks again here. Great review and you sold me easily on this gadget, not that I need much selling when it comes to gadgets. I think the $300USD may have just extended the life of my current DSLR.

Shooting with the 1000D, I've been really frustrated trying to get more than 3xAEB and was shocked that the 5D doesn't even have the capability. Now I can squeeze ever last frame out of my 1000D until I can really justify moving up into a full-frame.

Keep up the great work and the inspiration flowing!

Anyone know when or if the Promote external controller will be available. No one has it in stock, including the Company, and it seems they don't know when it will be available again.

First, thanks for a great review. I've been thinking on this kit since last year, and you've summed up wonderfully.

I just had a look on the Promote website, and they have a beta firmware update that is supposed to give the bulb mode workaround on the 5D/7D you mentioned. I have a 5D - just wondered if you had tested this yet?

I'll probably get the Promote - but it's out of stock in the UK until the end of April (probably later with this problem with volcanic ash we are having here.)

Again, thanks for a great review Brian.
