Wait for me!

Wait for me!

By the time Brian Bonham and I made it to this particular beachhead at Dalton Point, the sun was rapidly retiring. There wasn’t much luxury of time so it really boiled down to picking 2-3 compositions and really hoping to stick ‘em. Within a minute or two after nabbing this shot, the color was all but gone from this particular vantage point, leaving Brian and I standing there… staring at each other.

In terms of processing
The first thing I did here was get proper tone using the Basic sliders in the Develop module of Lightroom 4.3. This helped give me a more balanced starting point to stylize my image. Next, I sent the image to onOne Software Perfect Effects 4. I applied a Blue filter and masked it out of the warm sunset area. I then masked in a bit of Golden Hour Enhancer onto the sun area and globally applied Hollywood Glow.

Final touches were then applied in Lightroom 4.3.

The brian vs brian extravaganza, kinda like spy vs spy – always amusing :) Love the muted splendor of this one +Brian Matiash

  2. Beautiful shot Brian! I’ve had that happen to me so many times. The light is just gone way too fast! You’ve really got a beauty with this image! :)

+Elizabeth Hahn We gazed just one moment too long to where it became weird.
